Abstract

In the current conditions of martial law, Ukrainian society is experiencing significant psychological trauma, which directly affects the psycho-emotional state of students and the effectiveness of the educational process. High levels of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder create barriers to social interaction and knowledge acquisition. To assess the impact of stress factors on students, a study was conducted involving 114 volunteers aged 20–23 using a short self-assessment scale for anxiety, depression and PTSD, as well as physiological parameters: heart rate and blood pressure. The results showed that 41.2 % of students had signs of stress disorders, most of which were characterised by mild to moderate anxiety and depression. Monitoring of heart rate and blood pressure confirmed the activation of adaptive mechanisms in response to stress stimuli, in particular contact with a teacher or an unknown person, which corresponds to the phenomenon of ‘white coat syndrome’. The dynamics of physiological indicators demonstrate a decrease in the intensity of reactions after the adaptation period, which indicates the body’s ability to regulate stress reactions. The data obtained emphasise the need for a comprehensive assessment of the psycho-emotional state of students, combining subjective self-assessment methods and objective physiological parameters. The results of the study are of practical importance for the organisation of the educational process, as they allow for the implementation of adapted pedagogical approaches, reduction of psycho-emotional stress and creation of a psychologically safe educational environment. Emphasis is placed on the importance of early diagnosis of anxiety and depressive states and the provision of timely psychological support to students, which contributes to improving the effectiveness of learning and developing emotional stability in conditions of war stress.
