MODERN TEACHING OF ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY IN PEDIATRICS: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH AND STUDENT PERSPECTIVE

According to modern teaching requirements for medical institution students, one way to improve this approach is through an interdisciplinary approach.The purpose of this work is to evaluate the effectiveness of a modern interdisciplinary approach to teaching students the fundamentals of rational antibiotic therapy in pediatrics, with a focus on developing professional competencies in selecting optimal antimicrobial therapy regimens in the context of antibiotic resistance.Research methods: information-analytical, statistical.In the 2024–2025 academic year, certain changes were made to the teaching of the elective discipline “Clinical Pharmacology of Antibiotics in Pediatrics and Issues of Antibiotic Resistance” to master the principles of modern approaches to the rational choice of a particular antibiotic and to improve the assimilation of the material by students.1. Each of the topics of the curriculum was supplemented with the corresponding nosology for which certain groups of antibiotics are prescribed in pediatrics, according to the WHO AWaRe classification and European, American, and national guidelines.2. The topics were distributed among the teachers.3. After conducting the VD, the students were asked to answer the questions of an anonymous questionnaire.Conclusions: An interdisciplinary approach to teaching antibiotic therapy in pediatrics contributes to the formation of students’ competencies in the rational use of antibiotics and the prevention of resistance.Analysis of feedback from future specialists confirmed the relevance of including topics on pharmacokinetics, resistance mechanisms, and clinical use of antibiotics in the curriculum.The results of the study confirm the feasibility of improving the educational process by integrating the principles of optimizing antimicrobial therapy in pediatric practice.
