STUDENTS’ INDEPENDENT WORK IN PAEDIATRICS AS AN INDISPENSABLE COMPONENT IN ACQUIRING THE FUTURE DOCTOR’S COMPETENCIES

Analysis of the independent work organization of higher education students by the specialty 222 “Medicine” regarding their training in Pediatrics is a criterion that allows increasing the efficiency of its implementation in accordance with the needs of students which in turn will contribute to a higher mastery of a future doctor’s competencies.The research objective: to analyze the results of survey on the assessment of independent work of the 6th year medical faculty students by the specialty 222 “Medicine” at the Department of Pediatrics No. 2 of O. O. Bohomolets National Medical University and to identify the ways of its improvement.Materials and methods. The survey was conducted using 4–5-point Likert scales questionnaire in Google Forms.Results. The vast majority of students determined the students’ independent work (SIW) as useful for them, the effectiveness of SIW various forms was assessed. More than 2/3 of future doctors while preparing for a practical lesson choose materials posted on the distance learning platform “Doctor”, which requires teachers to constantly update the academic guides and use the latest references. When assessing the amount of information that students are ready to work with independently in the process of preparing for a lesson, a correlation between this amount and the results of time spent on independent preparation for a practical lesson analysis is observed. The development of computer technologies makes it possible to diversify the methods of independent work.Conclusions. Analysis of the graduates’ anonymous survey results on the SIW organization is an effective method of identifying problems and improving the effectiveness of the educational process.
