DIDACTIC ASPECTS OF TEACHING UKRAINIAN FOR PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES (THE CASE OF NUTRITION SCIENCE)

Abstract

The article concerns the current issues in teaching Ukrainian for professional purposes in medical universities. The particular attention is paid to the content and methods of instruction, modern educational resources, the use of creative essays, and familiarizing students with the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence. The study highlights the challenges of preparing future specialists for effective patient history taking, dialogic communication, questioning culture, prevention of iatrogenic risks, and adherence to the principles of empathy. Nutrition science is considered not only as a discipline that studies nutrients and other components contained in food products and their effects on the human body, but also as a complex system and an essential element of a healthy lifestyle, taking into account individual and gender characteristics, as well as personal development trends at different stages of life. The methodological framework of the study is based on the principles of pedagogical personology, the systems approach, and integral thinking. The research confirms the necessity of modernizing the content of the educational process and creatively integrating contemporary digital technologies. The outcome of the study is an original curriculum developed by the author for future nutritionists. The need for further exploration of medical rhetoric, as well as the didactic culture of teachers and students in higher education institutions, is substantiated. The findings emphasize the importance of considering the global scale of hunger, promoting healthy lifestyles, modernizing educational programs, addressing economic, social, and medical issues, and implementing personalized approaches, clinical nutrition, sports nutrition, and gender and profession – specific considerations. A new challenge for the higher education system has emerged through the widespread use of artificial intelligence. Legislative frameworks governing academic integrity are being updated, along with institutional regulations in higher education institutions. The application of artificial intelligence in medical education is a perspective area of development that requires a comprehensive approach to addressing ethical issues. An objective assessment of both its benefits and risks is essential. Adherence to the principles of academic integrity, the formation of an ethical culture, and the development of critical thinking are becoming key conditions for the effective use of new information technologies. The relevance of this issue is driven by the dynamic changes occurring in medical education. For example, at the I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, student enrolment has recently begun in such specialties as «Therapy and Rehabilitation», «Applied Linguistics.
