COMPETENCY APPROACH TO ASSESSMENT OF TRAINING OF SPECIALISTS IN SPECIALTY 222 «MEDICINE» WITHIN THE ACADEMICAL DISCIPLINE «PHARMACOLOGY»

Abstract

The article examines the features of the implementation of the competency-based approach in the system of assessing the learning outcomes of medical students within the discipline “Pharmacology”. The competency-based approach is a strategic direction of modern medical education, which is aimed not only at the acquisition of knowledge, but also at the formation of professional skills, clinical thinking and responsibility for decisions made. Within the framework of specialty 222 “Medicine”, the discipline “Pharmacology” is of key importance in the training of a doctor, as it provides fundamental knowledge about medicines, mechanisms of their action, side effects and features of clinical application. The issue of rational use of medicines is a problem for representatives of all medical specialties. Pharmacology is part of one of the key disciplines in the training of future doctors. It forms in higher education applicants a holistic system of knowledge about the action of medicines, their mechanisms of influence on the body, possible side effects and principles of clinical application in accordance with modern standards of evidence-based medicine. Clarity of diagnostic criteria, current changes in the formulation of the goal of treatment, the choice of the program and the control of effectiveness, safety, individualized depending on age, the rational choice of personalized pharmacotherapy has an impact on the quality and duration of life of the patient, the health of the population of Ukraine.Purpose. Determination of the main general and professional competencies that are formed in the process of studying the discipline, as well as outlining the criteria for their measurement. Substantiation of the need to transition from controlling the level of knowledge acquisition to a comprehensive assessment of practice-oriented skills and clinical thinking. Results. All types of effective assessment of the educational activities of higher education students have educational and methodological support, which is subordinated to the mastery of competencies of various directions to achieve program learning outcomes.Conclusions. Effective assessment of knowledge in this area is exceptional for ensuring a high level of competence of future doctors.
